GOPHER BOUNTY PROGRAM
The 2024 Gopher Bounty Program has Ended
Each year we pay YOU to catch gophers within the jurisdiction of Owyhee Irrigation District to help reduce gopher holes that can severely damage the canals & ditches causing damage to surrounding lands as well as possibly inhibit water delivery.
All you have to do is catch some gophers & bring the tails into the office to collect your bounty!
We do have a max limit per month per land owner so we can extend the availability of funds and give everyone in the district a chance to participate. The limit is 600 tails per landowner per month.
The District will pay $1.00 per gopher tail.
Gophers must be caught within the jurisdiction of the Owyhee Irrigation District.
LANDOWNERS WITH OWYHEE IRRIGATION WATER RIGHTS are the ONLY authorized participants.
Please keep in mind rotting tails and other parts of animals are gross, we will NOT accept them & will not pay a bounty on gross things.
Please turn in your tails as follows:
- Pre-Counted
- In a clear plastic bag
- Dried or frozen is acceptable
We do not gauruntee we will pay out the total amount you (the patron) counted/turned in. Our team will check the tails & pay out the total tails that are accepted. Providing rotting tails, parts of the animal, other items with your tails may result in a lower count of accepted tails.
We reserve the right to deny any tails turned in.
