Owyhee Irrigation District (OID) has supplied irrigation water to lands in Malheur County including Adrian, Nyssa, and Ontario, Oregon since 1932. The district was formed to supply agricultural water to the entire Owyhee Project and today remains the largest irrigation district in Eastern Oregon.

Mechanic

The Description  

The Mechanic is responsible for planning, directing, managing, coordinating, and supervising the programs for acquisition, assignment, utilization, maintenance, repair, replacement, and disposal of fleet vehicles & Large/Small Equipment. The District’s Fleet is considered large which includes small engines, light duty pickups, CDL Trucks, & Heavy Equipment.  The Fleet manager serves as the primary contact concerning the entire fleet and operations.

Job Scope

  • Vehicle & Equipment Maintenance
  •  Mechanical diagnostics & Repair
  •  Preventative Maintenance Management
  • Maintain & record data regarding everything pertaining to the fleet

Essential Functions

Responsibilities, in no particular order, include, but are not limited to:

  •  Maintain & record data regarding everything pertaining to the fleet
  •  Looks for ways to reduce costs, in addition to finding means for getting better fuel efficiency.
  •  Oversees the end-to-end lifecycle of each company-owned commercial vehicle & equipment.
  •  Vehicle/Equipment inspection and maintenance
  • Vehicle/Equipment performance monitoring, record keeping, and improvement
  •  Prepare reports in a timely manner.
  •  Keep accurate records and forms.
  • Follow safety procedures and keep a safe work environment.
  •  Participate in Safety Committee
  •  Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicle.
  •  Operate hand and power tools
  •  Inventory Management
  •  Practice effective time management techniques.
  •  Other related duties and responsibilities as required.
